Placing an Order

Formation of a Legal Contract

A legally binding contract between You and Us is established under the terms below.

Order Eligibility

You may purchase Products by placing an order via Our Website or by telephone at (+44) 020 308 987 84. You must:

  • Be 18 years or older (the legal age of contractual capacity in the UK).
  • Have authority to purchase the Products (e.g., valid payment method, legal right to transact).

Accuracy of Information

You are responsible for ensuring all provided details (e.g., email address, delivery address) are correct and complete. Errors may delay or prevent delivery.

Order Confirmation

After receiving Your order, We will send an Order Acknowledgement email to Your provided address. This includes:

  • Confirmation of payment receipt.
  • Your order number and personal details.

Contract Acceptance

Your order is only accepted once We:

  • Receive full payment (directly from You or a third-party finance provider).
  • Issue an Order Acknowledgement.

The contract is formed upon acceptance. However, You retain cancellation rights under Section 9 (aligned with the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013).

Order Rejection

We will notify You if Your order is rejected, typically due to:

  • Unavailability of Product(s).
  • Payment authorisation failure.
  • Legal restrictions (e.g., You lack eligibility to purchase or We cannot lawfully sell the Products).
  • Order quantity limits exceeded.
  • Pricing or description errors (protected under the Consumer Rights Act 2015).
  • Issues with credit/finance applications (if applicable).

Product Specifications

Product Development & Variations

We and Our suppliers engage in continuous product development and reserve the right to modify Product specifications (e.g., dimensions, ornamental details) without prior notice. Products delivered may differ slightly from images or descriptions online due to these updates.

Natural Material Characteristics

All furniture is crafted from natural wood, which may exhibit variations in appearance. Natural factors like ageing and sunlight exposure can alter the wood’s appearance over time.

Rustic Design & Manufacturing

Our furniture features intentional distressing (e.g., wood splits, knots, scratches, antiquing) as part of its rustic design. Mango and oak Products may include wood filler as standard in manufacturing. Mango items often display heavy distressing, including dulling or rubbed wax finishes. Knotty or grainy wood is intentional and does not constitute a defect. These features do not affect Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If You believe a Product is faulty or misdescribed, contact Our customer service team.

Leather Products

Natural leather Products may show variations in colour, texture, or natural markings (e.g., scars, bites). While We strive for accuracy, digital displays (e.g., monitors, screens) may not perfectly reflect true colours due to technical limitations.

Home Assembly Requirements

Most Products require no assembly, but some (e.g., dining tables, beds, wardrobes) may need minimal home assembly for safe delivery. Assembly requirements are clearly stated in Product descriptions. Handles may be pre-fitted inside drawers/doors. Drivers do not unbox or assemble Products due to strict delivery schedules.

Furniture Care & Warranty

Solid hardwood furniture must be treated with natural wax polish immediately upon delivery and every six months thereafter. Modern heating can dry timber rapidly, and failure to wax may void Your warranty. This requirement does not override Your statutory rights; if Product condition is unacceptable, contact customer service.

Climate-Related Adjustments

Extreme climate changes during shipping may cause temporary swelling in doors/drawers, making them stiff. This often resolves within a week as timber adjusts to Your home environment. Swapping drawers may help. Report issues to Our team for resolution, which may include an independent technician inspection or repair. Natural timber movement is expected and not a defect.

Care Guidelines

Refer to Our Furniture Guides and Owner’s Manual for detailed care instructions.

Clearance Products

Clearance Range Details

Our “clearance” section features discontinued ranges, unpackaged items, or stock clearance Products. All clearance items are new and have never been delivered or returned by other customers. This does not affect Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If You receive a Product that is faulty or misdescribed, contact Our customer service team.

Prices

Pricing Structure

Product prices are confirmed during Your telephone order or displayed on Our Website checkout. All prices are in Pounds Sterling (GBP) and include VAT at the current rate, unless exempt. Prices may reflect promotional offers or discounts.

Online-Exclusive Pricing

Prices on Our Website apply only to online purchases and promotions. They are non-transferable to other sales channels (e.g., telephone orders). Promotional prices expire at midnight on the stated end date.

Pricing Errors

We strive for accuracy, but obvious and unmistakable pricing errors may occur. If We process an order with such an error, We reserve the right to:

  • Cancel the contract.
  • Refund payments.
  • Request Product return. This aligns with the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, protecting against misleading pricing.

Pricing Policy

Full details of Our pricing practices are available on the pricing policy page of Our Website.

Payment

Payment Methods

Payment is due in full at the time of order via debit/credit card, charge card, or finance (subject to approval). You confirm that:

  • Payment details are accurate and lawful.
  • The card/finance account is Yours with sufficient funds.

We may validate card/finance details before order acceptance.

Immediate Payment

Full payment is charged immediately upon order confirmation.

Consumer Finance Option

Finance agreements (subject to credit checks) require signed documentation to finalize. Delays in returning signed agreements may delay delivery.

Discounts & Cashback

Only one promotional offer (e.g., discount code or cashback) applies per order. Cashback is facilitated via third-party affiliates, not directly through XL Furniture.

Delivery Terms & Conditions

Delivery Access & Customer Responsibilities

You must verify Product measurements and ensure adequate access (e.g., doorways, stairs, and corridors) for delivery. Confirm dimensions via Our Website or by contacting Our customer service team. We are not liable for additional costs arising from inaccurate measurements or accessibility issues provided by You. Assess the delivery route from the lorry to Your chosen room, ensuring it is free of hazards and accommodates large vehicles. Measure door heights, ceiling clearances, and stairwells (including banisters) to prevent delivery complications. Contact Us in advance if potential issues arise.

Delivery Process & Attendance

A representative aged 16 or older must be present to accept delivery. If You are unavailable, ensure another adult is available to sign for and inspect the Products. Remove tripping hazards (e.g., furniture, cables, ornaments) from the delivery path. While Our drivers wear paper overshoes to protect floors, they cannot remove footwear for health and safety reasons. Cover carpets or delicate flooring if necessary. We are not liable for property damage (e.g., scratches, marks) unless caused by Our negligence.

Delivery Scope & Timelines

  • Geographic Coverage: Deliveries are restricted to the UK mainland (including Northern Ireland). Remote postcodes may experience longer delivery times.
  • Lead Times: Most Products are dispatched within 30 days. Custom or bespoke items (e.g., sofas) may require extended lead times, communicated at the time of order.
  • Delivery Dates: Your order confirmation will specify the estimated delivery date. Dates are subject to stock availability and may change due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., supplier delays).

Order Changes & Split Deliveries

Modifications to Your order may delay delivery. If We cannot deliver all items simultaneously, We will arrange split deliveries at no extra cost, unless requested by You.

Failed Deliveries & Redelivery Fees

If delivery fails due to Your actions (e.g., inaccessible property, incorrect measurements), We may charge a £49 redelivery fee. Avoid additional fees by contacting Us before the delivery date to reschedule. We are not liable for delays caused by events beyond Our control (e.g., extreme weather, strikes).

Product Inspection & Issue Resolution

Inspect Products immediately upon delivery. Report defects, damage, or discrepancies to Our customer service team within a reasonable timeframe. Do not notify delivery personnel or return items to stores. Provide photographic evidence of issues via Our Website to expedite resolution. We will respond within two Working Days. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 remain unaffected.

Third-Party Carriers & Liability

If You opt for delivery via a third-party carrier, We transfer responsibility to You once Products leave Our possession. We are not liable for loss or damage during onward transit.

Ownership & Risk Transfer

  • Responsibility: Risk transfers to You upon delivery to Your address or third-party carrier.
  • Ownership: You gain full ownership once payment is received and delivery is completed.

Packaging Removal

We do not remove packaging materials post-delivery. Dispose of these materials responsibly.

Cancellation Policy

Right to Cancel Before Delivery

You may cancel Your order by contacting Us before the scheduled delivery date. Provide as much notice as possible, as Products begin transit three days prior to delivery.

Consumer Cancellation Rights (Change of Mind)

If You are a consumer (purchasing outside of business, trade, or profession), You have a 14-day cancellation period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. This period starts from the date of deliverya or, if using a third-party carrier, from the date We hand Products to the carrier. After 14 days, returns are only accepted for faulty or misdescribed Products.
